Amsterdam Artistic Cafes

Art is an integral part of Amsterdam’s heritage. So much so, that there are even several cafes and coffee shops around the city boasting beautiful art installations. Visit one of these on your Amsterdam tours, and you should have a relaxed time while admiring some creative work. Below are some of the best artistic cafes which you can visit while on your Amsterdam Tours.

Koko Coffee & Design

Koko Coffee & Design is a great outlet for artisanal coffee and delicious homemade items such as banana bread. It is located in the Oudezijds Voorburgwa region of the city, and is decorated with prints done by Dutch illustrators. These are changed after each season. Koko Coffee & Design is a great place to admire coffee, art, and cake. Furthermore, it is the right place to go if you are a fashion enthusiast – there is a local fashion outlet with clothing and such from the best upcoming fashion designers.

ArtDeli

ArtDeli has a misleading appearance, in that it makes you think of it as a regal building housing, perhaps, a theater. It actually has a restaurant-cum-café with a calming ambiance, friendly employees, great design, affordable food, and an interior outlet. The best part is that it undergoes a makeover every two months, so you can count on catching something new each visit.

Betty Blue

The walls of Betty Blue are filled with playful illustrations, apart from the artsy cakes and coffee it is famous for. The most interesting feature of this place is that its white pentagonal pillars and chic concrete recreate a 1950s ambiance. It is situated near Waterlooplein and Nieuwmarkt, and serves as a great place to have a relaxed time.

Volkshotel

This place once served as the headquarters of the Dutch newspaper De Volkskrant, and has since been changed completely to house the café. Volkshotel is located in Amsterdam’s Oost, and is open day and night. Taste delicious lattes on the ground floor at Werkplaats, or visit Canvas op de 7de, located on the seventh floor. The place lets you dine on a great roof terrace overlooking the skyline of the city. Volkshotel holds regular exhibitions with features from analog photography as well as experimental art.

Cloud Art & Coffee

Cloud Art & Coffee is a café located in Amsterdam’s Prinsengracht. It is a place that works for art and promotes it in many ways. The place exhibits the works of budding photographers. There are monthly exhibitions happening here and you can enjoy a delightful drink like the Brazilian fair-trade coffee here.
